The Resurrection Story.

The resurrection of Christ is central to the Christian faith, affirming that Jesus genuinely rose from the dead on the third day following His crucifixion. This event is not only a joyful Easter message but also the cornerstone of Christian hope, salvation, and life after death.

  • Christians hold that the resurrection was God’s confirmation of Jesus’ teachings and actions. The empty tomb, the accounts of the women, and the numerous appearances of the risen Lord to His disciples all serve as evidence that transformed fearful followers into courageous witnesses. The New Testament describes these appearances as proof that Jesus was alive in a changed physical form, yet still recognizable and able to speak, eat, and send His followers on their mission.
  • The resurrection also gives significance to the Cross. Jesus’ death is not viewed as a defeat but as the redemptive sacrifice through which sin is forgiven and humanity is reconciled with God. Seen in this way, Easter becomes a celebration of victory: Christ has triumphed over sin, death, and the grave. His resurrection is the first instance of the resurrection to come, promising that those who belong to Him will also be raised

For believers, the resurrection is more than a historical event; it is a current source of new life. It proclaims that suffering does not have the final say, that evil is not everlasting, and that God’s power surpasses every grave. Because Christ lives, Christians believe they can live with courage, repentance, and hope, confident that death is not the end but a passage into God’s eternal life.

Therefore, the resurrection of Christ is at the core of Christian worship, preaching, and testimony. It is the message that transforms mourning into joy, despair into hope, and fear into faith. In every generation, the risen Christ remains the living Lord who invites His people to believe, follow, and proclaim that He is truly risen.

Transitus of St. Francis

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
