FREE MEDICAL AND PALLIATIVE OUTREACH IN MBIERI COMMUNITY
The Owerri Archdiocesan Justice, Development, Peace and Caritas Commission (JDPC), in collaboration with Holy Rosary Hospital, Emekuku, on the 13th of April, 2026 organized a free medical and palliative outreach for parishioners of Christ the King Parish and St. Peter’s Parish, both in Mbieri Community, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.
This humanitarian intervention forms part of JDPC’s ongoing commitment to alleviating hunger and improving the health conditions of people living in the hinterlands of the Archdiocese.
The Commission expresses profound gratitude to God for the grace and strength to sustain this initiative despite the current economic challenges.


Special appreciation goes to His Grace, Most Rev. Lucius I. Ugorji, Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, and his Auxiliary, Most Rev. Moses Chikwe, for their fatherly support and guidance in ensuring that the poor and vulnerable are not marginalized within the Archdiocese..
The JDPC Commission also acknowledges with deep appreciation its partners and sponsors—Fidelity Bank and Cheta Ulo Foundation for their invaluable support and collaboration.
Sincere thanks are extended to the JDPC Director, Fr. Dr. Gerald Njoku, for his unwavering commitment to ensuring that the dividends of Caritas reach all episcopal deaneries of the Archdiocese, as well as for championing the introduction of the German Caritas model in Owerri, Imo State.
Fr. Justin Okoro, Director of Holy Rosary Hospital, was commended for his dedication and collaborative spirit in ensuring that the faithful have access to quality healthcare services on a pro bono basis.
The JDPC Program Manager, Ohaeri Kingsley Akachi, (JP) was equally applauded for the organization and implementation of such impactful lifeline intervention.
In their remarks, the Parish Priest of Christ the King Parish, Mbieri, Rev. Fr. Jude Ihejieto, alongside Fr. Augustine Opara, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Archbishop and the leadership of JDPC for their concern and solidarity with the poor in their parishes.
Beneficiaries of the outreach described the intervention as unprecedented and a true beacon of hope amidst the prevailing economic hardship in the country.
